Successfully Deploying A Wireless Surveillance Camera System

Wireless surveillance camera systems are going through a rapid change in technology that has made it easy to set up a secure, wireless video camera that is not prone to interference.

Until recently, many people tried to set up a wireless surveillance camera system, typically 2.4GHz wireless cameras, only to fail miserably. The main problem is that analog wireless cameras operate on several frequencies that other consumer products operate in.

There are 4 major wireless frequencies that wireless surveillance camera systems are allowed to operate on: 900MHz, 1.2GHz, 2.4GHz, and 5.8GHz.

Wireless devices like cordless telephones, wireless speakers, Wi-Fi, baby monitors, and wireless headphones will cause interference in your signal reception, resulting is video that is full of static that distort the video, if you can even pick it up at all.

And problems with thick walls, or ceilings only added to the problem, resulting in very few companies that make wireless cameras today.

In the 21st century, secure, digital wireless surveillance camera systems use small access points and client radios to connect remote network ip cameras to your network video recorder (NVR). These small radios are in the $100 range, and allow up to 2-3 cameras to be connected to each one.

Their signal is sent securely over the airwaves, allowing it to be passed through your local area network to be either monitored on site or offsite, or recorded to the NVR.

If you are considering setting up a wireless surveillance camera system, you can save yourself a lot of grief and not use 20th century analog system, and go with 21st century secure digital wireless technology.
