One of the easiest ways to instantly lower the amount of IP camera bandwidth, and storage needed to store the files is to crop the video. Not every IP camera will let you do this, though in my class today I learned Vivotek IP cameras have this feature built in.
That looks like almost 25% of the picture really does not need to be captured or transmitted over your LAN/WAN. This will also let you increase frame rates, or store the video for longer periods of time.
