The Spy Finder works on the principle of optical augmentation. This is a technical term that refers to the phenomenon where light is reflected from a focused optical system, like a Video Camera, and is reflected along the very same path as the incident light. What this means is that if a Hidden Camera is illuminated and viewed using the Spy Finder Technology, there will be a strong reflection from the target camera that will reveal its position to you.

The Spy Finder then exploits this phenomenon by using a ring of ultra-bright LEDs around a viewing area. When you scan a room looking through the viewing port, a any hidden cameras in the field of view will brightly reflect a red flashing light from the LEDs.
