The improved and updated MicroEye CamBall is the worlds smallest mini DVR and Camera hidden in a covert device the size of a golf ball! It now takes up to 16GB memory, and has improved motion detection.

The CamBall allows you to record your life as it happens, and upload YouTube quality videos in something the size of a golf ball. Never again miss any of lifes precious moments, knowing you have the Camball mini video recorder with you.

The SecureShot MicroEyes CamBall is a powerful 30 frames per second (FPS), High Resolution, Color, Motion Activated, Time/Date Stamped, self contained SD card recording camera. Whew!

The manufacturers of the CamBall have discontinued the current SC-20 & SC-21 models, and has introduced two new models:

• CamBall SC-30: Targeted to action sports, young people, or anyone who wants an easy to use video recorder that is not huge or requires wires or batteries to work. There is no motion detection, so it can't be used for surveillance purposes, just live recording by holding it, or using the Sports Pack which lets you use it while snow boarding, mountain biking, sky diving, skate boarding, parties, anniversaries, weddings, or anything else you can think of.
• CamBall SC-31: This version of the Cam Ball comes with vastly improved motion detection, allowing for better surveillance recordings when used as a Nanny cam or Granny cam to watch over your elderly parents when you are not there.

 

The Camball requires you to read the quick start guide, and the manual (link below, or on the disc) to set up the motion detection. It's not difficult to operate, however, it does require you to read the manual.

The difference is the SC-30 does not have motion detection, and the SC-31 has really improved motion detection. Before, just subtle shifts in the room color wold trigger the motion detection. In tests we are currently conducting, it's recording when we move in front of it, and it appears to just make one video of all the motion, not 100 two minutes movies. We have to say the motion detection is improved over older versions. Check out two videos below with the montion detection.

Updated CamBall Contents

The Cam Ball works with a PC or a Mac, however, on the Mac, it won't run the CamBall Manager Software, which allows you to change all the settins, however,  just hook the cable up to the input on a TV, and you can run it that way because it's built in.  Otherwise, you will have to remove the SD card and use an SD card reader to see the video on a Mac. You can't adjust any of the settings on the Mac

The Secure Shot MicroEye Ball Cam has an internal Li-polymer battery that you can recharge through the USB port of any computer. Records 6 hours of video on a 2GB SD card. CamBall Surveillance Pack: Allows you to set up either version of the Camball to run off 110V electricity. The SC-30 will run until the video is full & the SC-31 set up on motion detection could run for days with low movement.

 CamBall Sports Pack: Allows you to take your CamBall into EXTREME conditions like boating, surfing, hiking, biking, or motorcycling. Two adapters will keep the CamBall secure, no matter what your sport!

 CamBall Vehicle Pack: Allows you to either record your business or pleasure trips, as well as set up to provide some security against vehicle vandalism. Plug the CamBall in the lighter and set motion activation and you can watch your car or truck all night against vandal, as well as punks coming up your driveway if you point it out the window.

LCD Monitor For CamBall: Allows you to watch your video while away from a TV or your PC. Includes a 2.5" LCD screen and a connection cable.

 

On an Apple computer, the camball manager software won't work; it's only for PC's. You will either have to change the set-up with a TV/VCR connection, or if you are running Windows in any way on your Mac, it will work fine there.

If you have a PC, you can open the free CamBall Manager software to make adjustments like changing the recording frame rate, turning off or on the audio and night vision, and letting the camera record to the micro SD cards.

You can watch the video on a Mac or a PC, as it shows up as a drive, and if you have an added micro SD card, that will show up also on both. You can also remove the SD Card and use a SD card reader to download the video to your computer, though why bother if you can access the video from the multi-media cable.

The uses for the Micro Eye are endless. You can put it on your dashboard and you can record your travels. You can set it up in your home or car to catch the punk that is ripping you off. You can add a sports armband and pop the camball in to record you mountain biking, snow boarding, skate boarding, bronco bull busting, or any other action sport. 

You can't just open it and push an on and off button like the PI Camstick, you have to take the time to read the manual in order to learn how to operate all the many feautres of the Ball Camera. This is your warning; don't buy this if you won't take the time to read the instruction manual, buy the PI Camstick for an easy to use 1 button recording.

You can set the Cam Ball up on a shelf and it will record video of whatever walks in front of it because it has a Motion Detection feature that will only record when there is movement. It also has a low light feature for night recording, and with the new firmware upgrade, you have access to the Camball Manager software.
