Many times just erasing the drive and reformatting it will fix a stubborn DVR Spy Camera that won't turn on, off, or record.

First, try to reset the Spy Camera, you can find an article called: My Spy Pen Is Stuck. If that does not work, read the rest of this article. If it works, get back to recording.

Just watch this video to show you how easy it is. On a PC, just right click on the drive, it should be an E or F drive, and relase on "Format." Make sure it's your spy camera and not a flash drive or other removable drive. Check the "Quick Format" button, and click ok. In a couple minutes it should be done. Eject the drive & you are back in business.

On a Mac, go to disc utilities and select the sub drive icon on the pics on the right, select the "Erase" tab, it will already be set to Format "FAT 32", click erase, and it will be done in a minute or 2.

If your Spy Camera is dead, you need a new one.

    How do you fix it if the computer doesn't even detect the camera? ------------ THERE ARE A NUMBER OF FACTORS, IS IT A MAC OR PC? SOME DON'T WORK ON THE MAC.     hi, when i hold the button to turn on the camera, the light doesn't stay on. it comes on when im holding it but as soon as i release it, it turns off. i tried resetting the spy pen cam with paperclip and also tried to reformat. none work. the computer doesn't even detect the pen. can you help out? thank you. -------------- HAVE YOU CHARGED THE PEN FOR 3 HOURS?     I have tried to format, but my computer wont recognise the pen as a drive/flash card. What do I do now? --------------- YOU NEED TO PROVIDE MORE INFO; IS IT A MAC OR PC?     Its really nice to know how to format the camera if you can see it in your PC. My camera is not detected in PC to perform reset. I have read that the rate of bad cameras is around 10%. I do feel it my be even a bit higher than that. I didnt use my camera for about 3 weeks and then I tried to record something. Got stuck on yellow LED and that was it. Reset button shut that thing off. Pressing power button again just cycle the process. When plugged into the PC. Yellow lights goes on and thats it. Reset as above. I guess it is dead and needs to be replaced. Should I order another one so at least one is home at works while the other one is on the way to you or back from you?     i have a mp9 digital video recorder its loss the system file and not working how to install system file for mp9 ------------------------- There is no file system. It works w/o it.     Guys, I got a spy cam of 8 GB. Surprisingly it looks like it is not working.     Well I got my about 6 months now and I hardly use it...until later of the time back to using it. It doesn't work anymore so I charged it and tried to reset it many time, and reformat. It never show up for specific reason...Please any other solution that may help or return back for 1 year warranty. --------------- People, contact us using the contact form above instead of posting on here.     So I got my car alarm key chain camera a couple months ago. It's been working perfectly fine, save for two things. One, I can never tell it's done charging, and the charge doesn't last if it's not plugged in for a couple days. And two, when taking a video, if the battery runs out and the camera dies, it doesn't save the video just recorded. When I hook up the camera it shows the video but the file size is 0. Then I go to the properties of the camera and it shows that the memory is in use. (There is no other vids/pics on it) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am charging with USB cable using computer.I am Using Windows XP. When I try to Format it's showing message like windows was unable to complete the format.
