The Updated DVR Spy Pen is an incredible product. We buy them from overseas, and from time to time the contents of the boxes vary slightly, as well as the color of the operation light on the back-side.

There really isn't much to do to operate it, it's a one button, point & shoot camera. However, there are so many versions, here is a basic overview. If the color of the light is different, don't worry.

In order to use the DVR spy pen, you will need to charge the digital video spy pen 2-4 hours, then it's ready to use.

  1. Press the top button on top for a second or 2, and you will see a light on the back side light up. The DVR pen is on & ready for action in stand-by mode.
  2. The newer pens will start recording automatically in 2-3 seconds and either change to a different color light, or flash ever couple seconds. If it does not change color or start flashing, press the button again and it should change color. This is recording mode.
  3. If it's blinking rapidly, the battery is low and you did not charge it, or it might be defective if you did charge it. Try a hard reset, which we will go over below.
  4. To stop recording, press the top button lightly again, and the light will either change back to the first color, or stop flashing, depending on how old it is. It is now back in stand-by mode.
  5. You can either start recording again by pressing the button again, or turn it off.
  6. To turn off the DVR Pen, hold the button down until the light goes off about 3-4 seconds.

    When I turn on my pen, it starts to blink green. I can't record. What does this means? ---- Admin: When it's blinking green,it is recording.

Do not buy any infrared illuminator if your camera is not an IR camera. It has to have a removable IR-Cut filter that slides out of the way at night for the camera to recognize the IR.
