The original DVR Spy Pen will allow you to time stamp when you took the video, though you will have to change it if you want it to be different in the future. If you have the older pen with the smaller video, 355 x 280, this is the correct way to adjust the time/date.

If you have a newer one, 640 x 480 video, use this article to adjust the time/date.

If you want to change the time & date stamp, you do this by just adjusting a .txt file and uploading it to the DVR Spy Pen.

This version adds a function which the vedEo_recorder time (year-month-date hour:minute:second) will be Recorded in the recorded files, and will be shown when playback.

Set the Time/Day stamp as follows:

  1. Edit a .txt file in word pad as the date you want in the following format:
    2008-10-23 14:08:28
    check carefully and make the correct format as that is the date that will show up in green numbers at the top left of the video.
  2. Name the .txt file as userconfig.txt.
  3. Insert the  recorder-pen to your computer, copy userconfig.txt to the root of the of the pen.
  4. Remove the  pen from your computer, power off the pen, then power on, now the time the time & date stamp will be there.
  5. When complete, the time will be saved forever.

    Hi, I cannot get that time and date changed on my pen. I was able to get userconfig.txt set up but got lost when you said to copy userconfig.txt to: The root of the U_DISK of the pen. Where is that? Also, the current 1980 date is on the top, right side of the screen. Hope you can help. ----- When you plug in the pen, go to the "My Computer" directory. From there you will see the flash drive as E or F drive. From there, you will see it's directory, that is where you drag the file to. Hope that helps.

    I do the same for change date like that 2009-11-03 16:05:49 and put in the root. no change was done and the date still old many thanks

    Hi, can't get the video pen to take videos, it only takes picture shots.Would appreciate your help. Thanks ------------- Who did you get it from? Some have a switch to switch back & forth, others you have to press the botton for a second or 2 when it's on to move between video & photo mode.
