I want to playback a video shot with a dvr camera. It has a usb connector but no card to remove. They are the pen, watch, stick variety. Shot @ 640×480, AVI. What portable device do I purchase to play it on the spot, without a computer?

If the device has no removable media, then the USB interface maybe the only way to get data from the device.
Many such cameras come with a cable that has AV, (audio visual output). This cable would connect from the camera to your TV or VCR input ports. Then you could watch the video on TV or record to VCR.
Check the vendor’s website to see if they sale an AV cable.
As these devices are all made to work with a computer, a computer is probably the only way to the file itself.
If you had access to someone elses computer, you could burn the video to DVD and play it any DVD player.
A netbook computer can cost under $300 and would allow you to see and use the data on the device.
Even an very old PC would work. You could probably find an or P4 for around $100. If you ask around in your comunity you could probably find a PII or PIII for under $50. Put linux on it and you have a system for your camera.
