I run my own business, I’d like to set up some cameras. Are there any laws regarding this other than the “you may be under surveillance” decals.
Another question, as far as installing systems for other business, is there a way to skirt the law as far as not having this license and that license, basically setting them up and having the customer be the installer by plugging the main power supply in?
I’m just a small business looking for more opportunities to make a buck.
If I can’t skirt the law that way, letting the customer install it, what are the current requirements for being a security system installer in Montana?

Every state is different, but as long as the cameras are in your own premises, and you use them for security only, it should be no problem.
If someone wants to hire you with no license, it is really their problem.
But if lets say you have no insurance and you damage someone’s house or someone sues you, you will lose more than you make by skirting the law. It is for your own protection. Similarly, if you fall from a ladder in someone’s house then they maybe be liable, that’s why people usually hire licensed contractors.
