Know a lot about Security Systems? Please read & tell me which you think is best for recording?

Me in TN asked:

I basically need a “nanny cam” to record (motion activated) activity in my bedroom, when I’m not home. Things are getting stolen. It has to be not noticeable. I’ve been looking into it. Is it better (as far the recording of the action) to get a USB DVR (just plugs into PC), a portable DVR or a DVR PCI Card? I can’t have one that plugs into my VCR for 1) I record shows while I’m @ work & 2), it would be noticeable if my VCR cut on when someone walked into the room. There are so many options. Is it better to get it separate or something that already has everything needed? I need a pinhole or covert camera that motion activated & can record on something other than my VCR. Color & audio would be a plus, but not necessary. I’ve reasearched till my head hurts, but I’m still no expert & want to make the right decision. Thanks!

Numero Uno is for people who are sick of punks messin with their ride. Set up this baby and either plug it in the lighter, or hardwire it directly to the fuse box and you can record out the front of the vehicle and inside the vehicle. Position it wherever you want to view out the vehicle, and the backside will film through the vehicle out the other side.

Numero Dos is for people who like to record their vacations or daily trips. You can see where you have been on the entire trip, including where you went, how long you stayed, your average speed, if you were accelerating, decelerating, or if you hit some bumps in the road. It’s got a built in G-Sensor, whatever the heck that is, that will let you know when the road is rough.

Numero Tres is for fleet management and watching your drivers & vehicles. You can track if they are going to the local bar or anywhere else they should not be. Track if they are speeding or giving it the gas, or braking too hard. It’s easy to see their habits and to identify problem drivers.

The Yard Guard Mail Box Hidden Camera DVR Delivers The Goods

We get call after call from people looking for a way to watch the front of their home for vandals. Seems there is no shortage of street punks out there with nothing better to do than destroy someone’s flowers or vegetables. Their sole purpose in life is to be a thorn in someone’s side by bothering them, coming on to their property, and stealing or destroying YOUR stuff!

Well you can put a stop to it with the Yard Guard Mail Box Hidden Camera DVR. Inside this innocent looking mail box is a hidden camera, SD card recording DVR, heat activated motion sensor, and long life, rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

SecureShot Yard Guard Mail Box Hidden Camera DVR

Set up the mail box hidden video camera anywhere you want to watch, and arm it with the remote control. The battery will keep it up to one year on stand-by, and you can get 26 hours of video, enough for a night.

The built in motion sensor is head activated, so blowing tree limbs or other non-heat producing objects won’t give a false alarm; however, it will automatically start recording when a punk wonders in front of it.

Charge the battery or quick swap an optional 2nd battery and you are back up & running quickly. SD cards pop out to view on the PC or Mac with VLC media player. Or plug the unit into a TV or monitor/VCR to view or record the old school way.

FYI, these battery powered, 1 cameras outdoor surveillance system makes a great back-ups to your current video surveillance system because if they cut the power to the house, and you don’t have a back-up generator that kicks in, your expensive camera system will not catch anything. Also, if they take the DVR that is recording, you won’t have anything, so it really makes sense to have a battery powered back up surveillance system for a back-up.

If you are having problems with punks gone wild, have nosey neighbors, or just want to be proactive and have something set up to record vandalism or theft before it happens, find out more info on the yard guard mail box hidden camera with DVR here.

Tips for Hiding Your Tracks Online

Today we will feature a guest article by Britney Wilkins, who writes for the online college.

Whether you’re specifically trying to hide out from a stalker, keep your online presence minimal, or just prevent any damage from being done, hiding your online tracks is important to protecting your personal identity, your data and your reputation. From social media to online shopping to password-protected sites and accounts, there are countless ways that we can reveal personal information about ourselves without even realizing it. Here are several reasonable tips for hiding your tracks online, for the sake of self-preservation in all forms.

  • Browse privately. Whatever browser you have, select the setting that allows you to browse privately.
  • Watch your cookies. Change your preferences so that your browser doesn’t accept cookies, or at the very least, you don’t accept third-party cookies. Cookies store information about your web surfing and online habits, so it’s best to clean them up or refuse to accept them.
  • Don’t let your browser remember passwords. Never let a site save your passwords or credit card information, and try to change your browser settings so that it doesn’t automatically fill in password boxes either.
  • Clear history. If you’re worried about another person in your office or household spying on your web surfing habits, clear your history every time you log off.
  • Encrypt files and e-mail messages. You don’t have to worry about anyone intercepting your messages if you encrypt them in the first place. Use a free service or choose to encrypt attachments like Adobe PDFs before you send.
  • Lock your social media sites to approved friends only. Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites let you control privacy settings so that only you can determine the people who view your accounts.
  • Don’t log onto open Wi-Fi accounts. Airports, cafes and libraries often have open access Wi-Fi accounts, but those networks are especially vulnerable to hackers and online spying. Make sure your personal wireless service is password protected.
  • Use an anonymous proxy server. An anonymous proxy server acts as a go-between for your IP address and the greater Internet, meaning that when you visit websites, the anonymous middle address will show up, not yours.
  • Don’t shop online: It’s extremely convenient to shop online, but if you’re seriously worried about someone stealing your credit card information, don’t bother paying bills or sharing your data on the Internet.

Thanks Britney, though there are sites like EyeSpyPro.com that are completely secure, PCI compliant, and does not sell any of our customers information.

Covert Thermal Motion Activated Battery Powered Teddy Bear Camera DVR

We have been supplying hidden cameras with built in DVR’s inside consumer electronics for years, and one day I saw a 2.4Ghz wireless camera teddy bear. It was a cute bear that I though would work great in a child’s room as a Nanny Cam to watch your Nanny, though it requires a computer or digital video recorder (DVR), which is like a TiVo, a stripped computer that just captures video to a hard drive.

Well, that’s a lot of work, cost, and no guarantee that the signal will not have interference. So I asked my technician if he could put a battery and DVR inside the toy, and what do you know, it’s been done, and it’s really cool.

The Covert Thermal Motion Activated Battery Powered Teddy Bear Camera DVR is a fully self contained, long life battery powered Nanny cam that records the video to SD cards inside the bear!

Then my tech blew me away when he told me he also put in a thermal motion activated sensor that will only activate when there is a human present. A fan or other moving object that is not living will not trip the motion sensor, so you don’t have video of nothing.

And, the battery can record for 20 straight hours, or up to a year on stand-by. No cables, no lights, no indication this cute little bear is silently recording video whenever someone walks in front of it. This way, you don’t have to wade through hours of “dead air,” you will have short clips of each time someone walks in front of it. Now to add WiFi for online access. We will work on that.

The Soda Can Hidden Video Camera Does Not Fizzle Out

We just did a test of The Soda Can Hidden Video Camera, and this is a pretty slick product that puts a 2 hour battery, camera, digital video recorder, and microphone all inside an innocent looking soda can.

Soda Can Hidden Video Camera
Soda Can Hidden Video Camera

For you Coppers, Gum Shoes, or anyone that needs to perform undetected field surveillance, this is your baby; just don’t open the top! Though that might make it more believable…

Charge the Soda Can Hidden Video Camera through the USB port on the bottom with the included USB cable, or 12v adapter for 4-5 hours, and you are ready. Turn the switch on the bottom on, and press the button. A red light will come on, then turn to green in 5 seconds.

Now you are recording clear 355 x 280 video @ 15fps. When you set it down, the video looks extremely clear. Move it around, and like any camera, it will be blurry.

However, your subject will have NO idea they are on candid camera. Upload the .avi video to your PC and burn to a disc for evidence. It won’t work on a Mac, unless you are running Windows on an emulator.

Rear View Mirror Vehicle Surveillance System With Two Cameras And DVR

We found a really cool Rear View Mirror Vehicle Surveillance System With Two Cameras And DVR that clips onto your rear view mirror to help catch punks that want to damage your car or truck.

We get calls almost every day looking for a good vehicle security camera system that can catch people messing with their ride. Seems there is always some punk who wants to damage vehicles, and now you can finally catch them. This Rear View Mirror Vehicle Surveillance System also works great to record road rage, or just get a recording of where a vehicle has been during the day.

Rear View Mirror Vehicle Surveillance System With Two Cameras And DVR
Rear View Mirror Vehicle Surveillance System With Two Cameras And DVR

To set it up, just clip it on your rear view mirror, and plug it in your cigarette lighter. There is a 2nd camera that you can set up anywhere in the vehicle, or mount on the outside. That 2nd camera has infrareds, so it can see well at night. You just run the cable to it to power the camera.

It has an internal battery that can record up to 4 hours, or all night by plugging it into your cigarette lighter. On newer cars, your lighter might not work at night, though that is an easy fix by your local mechanic to wire it directly to the battery. This way, you can record all night, when the punks come out.

And if some jerk starts a road rage incident, just spin around the front camera right on him, and now they are on candid camera!

If you are tired of damage to your car, or want to set up something now, before a vandal strikes, you can get more info on the Rear View Mirror Vehicle Surveillance System With Two Cameras And DVR here.

How To Catch A Flag Burning Punk

We read with pure disgust that some punks went around and burned four flags in a quiet Laguna Niguel, CA neighborhood.

Then we see that the same thing is happening in Dallas, Texas as well. A man comes home to find his flag a pile of ashes. Only this time, it’s the 2nd time his flag was burned.

The first time, an Iraq veteran donated a flag that flew over his base camp to the man, though luckily that was not the one that was not burned.

I am a veteran that served four active years, two in Fulda, Germany, keeping tanks & trunks humming just in case the Russians blew in through the “Fulda Gap.” Five years after the Baader-Meinhof gang arrested, and we are walking guard at some ammo dump in the middle of nowhere, in cold that makes your feet numb so bad you can not feel them, with a M-16 with no ammo.

Anyway, I am completely disgusted that any flags are burned & the culprits are probably young men who watch too many violent video games and have absolutely no life. Flags are the symbol of the people that make up a country, with all it’s hopes & dreams captured in a banner. I love flags; they are beautiful & I enjoy the diversity of our world and it’s people and it’s flags.

And it all gets vaporized in a few minutes by some immature punk. I really wanted to talk about a new movie called The Hurt Locker, which is about a solider who goes around diffusing roadside bombs in Iraq. It’s gritty and pretty realistic, and it’s not playing in that many theaters, so you will have to hunt it down.

Though if you are concerned that the vandalism is eventually going to reach your neighborhood, or if you have already been vandalized, then we have an inexpensive wireless outdoor camera with infrared’s is just you need to light up the night.

The VersaCam LiveView 36 Infrared Wireless Outdoor Camera is a little color bullet wireless camera that can see up to 50 feet at night in the dark, and several hundred feet during the day. What’s great about the VersaCam LiveView is that you don’t have to drop a grand on a surveillance system.

The VersaCam LiveView 36 Infrared Wireless Outdoor Camera
The VersaCam LiveView 36 Infrared Wireless Outdoor Camera

The VC/36 transmits the wireless signals to a little box that plugs into the USB port of your computer. Actually, you install the drivers first, then you plug in the box & power it up. It can accept up to 4 cameras, though you can not see them split screen, only one at a time ever 3.5 seconds.

We installed the drivers, powered the base & installed this Blue Iris software that you use to see the cameras. This is a pretty slick program, and you get it for free. We hooked up one small box camera, as we are waiting on a VC/36 to test.

Then you find a spot outside to put the camera. You can put one pointing @ the front door, and one pointing out the front yard or driveway as well. It can take up to four, though it only shows one @ a time every 3.5 seconds. We will hook up 2, 3 & 4 total to see how it works with that much video and if it records all the time, or just when it shows the camera. It’s limited, though for a couple camera set-up for people on a budget, or just don’t want to drop big coin on some cameras, it WILL do the job of filming your local punks.

Then you set up the software and tell it to use the driver you installed & you can see the image. What’s great is that it has motion detection, so it can send you a variety of alerts when something moves in front of the camera.

Put it at your front door, and you can see who is there from any Internet connection in the building, or the world! You can choose to get email or text messaging alerts to your phone, as well as audio alerts over the computers loudspeaker. It also turns a camera into a webcam.

So you put one of these little guys out front, and point it at your flag. IF some punks come around and mess with your car, boat, truck, RV, pink plastic flamingos, Halloween decorations, baby Jesus, or garden Trolls, then you got them on record because the Blue Iris software is recording the video to disc.

Now you have something to burn to a DVD to give to the Coppers when they show up. Protect your flag, your car, and your property from vandals and punks with the super easy to use and set up VersaCam VC/36 video surveillance camera.
