They could be either because the elevator shaft has lots of chords in it, they could also be wireless because of the technology.

they’re more than likely connected with a cable because the concrete and steel elevator shaft would block a signal from a wireless transmitter couldn’t complete a signal. there are other cables connected to the elevator for electric to run the lights,etc.
