    VideoIQ Kills The NVR

    Thursday, August 30th, 2012

We just started carrying the VideoIQ line of smart IP cameras, starting with the VideoIQ iCVR-HD IP66 IP Dome Camera. While you might be yawning and thinking, yet another line of network cameras, you are judging a book by it’s cover. The main reason why? VideoIQ kills the network video recorder with network cameras that have up to 750GB of internal solid-state hard drives, eliminating the need for multiple DVR’s at every location you need to watch over.

This is a industry killer folks, as now you no longer need a NVR to record your cameras. The VideoIQ iCVR cameras have ZERO bandwidth, except for the M-JPEG stream. No video is clogging up your local area network. No longer do you need to set up a separate LAN to take care of your cameras. With the VideoIQ cameras, you record on camera, and when you need to get archival video, you just log into the camera with a browser to download the clips you need for the fuzz. Bottom line? You are going to save a ton of money on your project costs.

Here’s a video for VideoIQ and what they do, VideoIQ Overview

The cameras are a true 1920 x 1080, which gives you a great, wide shot, wider than a 3 megapixel camera, and lets you digitally zoom in to see faces and license plates.

Now you can record on the camera, notify you when there is motion, automatically auto track a person, even though it’s not a PTZ camera, and toss your network video recorder to the trash. How cool is that? For more info on the VideoIQ line of cameras, or to get a quote for your needs, give us a shout @ the number below, or send us an email to: info@eyespypro.com.

    CCTV Cameras Are Dead

    Wednesday, June 13th, 2012

Let’s get this out right away, the CCTV camera is dead. IP Cameras have driven a stake through their heart of Analog cameras, and you no longer do we have to look at pixelated, crappy video footage. In the last decade they were great, though for most purposes, they produced totally usless video for law enforcement, and it’s hard to identify pixel man in a line up.

Can you really identify this punk? Hardly. So we got a call from an IT guy who needs help with setting up his clients 8 store locations with cameras. The need 1 or 2 cameras to record money being counted, so we suggest a dome on the ceiling with an 8mm lens to zoom right in. The client was on a budget, and we wanted to show them the quality differences between digtial network IP cameras, and stone age, analog CCTV cameras. We are going to show you why you should NEVER buy any CCTV camera kit at Costco or Walmar, because the video will be garbage, and you might as well toss your money on the BBQ and burn it to a crisp as the video for the police will be worthless.

We wanted to come up with a low cost recording solution, so we decided to quote the AverMedia EH1004H-4 4 Channel Hybrid Network Video Recorder, a great little video recorder that would accept analog and digital cameras. It’s affordable, and with the CMS software, you can access up to 16 different NVR’s, DVR’s with no additional cost, it’s got a great price, and it works with most IP cameras. It’s great for a home, or chain of small stores, or even one store. Three different versions accept four, eight, or sixteen cameras, and with the free Control center software, you can watch selected cameras from up to 16 other NVR’s. For free, it’s great.

So we hooked up one of the new Vivotek FD8136 Mini Dome Megapixel IP Camera, a mini 1 megapixel dome camera, and put on a 8mm lens, and used a SecuNext 700 line dome camera with the same 8MM lens. You tell me which one looks better, then vote in the poll.

SecuNext 700 Line Dome Camera :0(

    Here’s the money shots!

We have sample video we will post in the next couple days; just wanted to announce the death of the analog CCTV camera. Call us @ 1-877-339-3779 and we will help you with picking the right cameras and recorders to do the job for you!

Hard Drive Prices Spike, Thanks Thailand!

    Thursday, December 1st, 2011

Unless you are living under a rock, you heard that there is a large shortage of hard drives that have caused prices to almost triple due to the worst flood to hit Thailand in over fifty years. As you can see in these images, Western Digital has been hit hard by the flooding and the company has suspended production in Thailand. Obviously, it’s going to take some time for Western Digital to recover from the flood damage to its factories. Other hard drive manufacturers (such as Seagate) will also be affected as component suppliers have experienced flooding.

    Western Digital Flooded

Sniff, brings back good memories of Soi Cowboy!

According to Western Digital CEO John Coyne, it will all add up to a significantly reduced supply of hard drives into 2012. CRN reports that prices on hard drives are already rising in distribution channels and companies in the industry are watching inventory closely; some distributors may be stockpiling drives rather than selling them until the situation on the ground becomes clearer. Just how the shortage will ultimately affect consumers is also up in the air and will depend on how Western Digital and its distributors allocate existing inventory.

PC makers are taking notice, however: Apple CEO Tim Cook is on the record as expecting “an overall industry shortage of disk drives” and a Dell spokesperson said the company is “working with our hard drive suppliers to address potential impact for the remainder of the year.”

Due to the rapid daily fluctuations, we are not able to keep up with the constant changes on our web site, and any orders for products that require hard drives will be higher than posted until this problem settles down. Any order for Digital Video Recorders or Network Video Recorders, or anything requiring a hard drive will be higher than posted, and we will notify you of the price before we run your order.

It’s best to call us before you make an order to get a current price.

ACTi KCM-7111 Vandal Proof Dome Network Camera Can Withstand An Occupy Wall Street Protest

    Friday, November 25th, 2011

ACTi has come out with the most beautiful video on their new 4 megapixel network cameras, and we want to post another clip for you of the ACTi KCM-7111 H.264 4-Megapixel IP Day Night Vandal Proof PoE Rugged Dome. If you are looking to install new cameras, or replace old cameras, the ACTi 4 megapixel dome cameras offer exceptional video quality, at a reasonable price, and come with great software, or integrate into most 3rd party network camera software from LuxRiot,, and QNAP.

A rugged vandal proof dome is designed for public places indoor or outdoor, and can withstand hits with sticks and rocks. While they are not bullet proof, they will take the abuse dished out by the Occupy Wall Street socialist/commie punks. Seems a few dozen to a few thousand are popping up like zits on a fat man’s arse all over our great country. And while I have been just too busy lately quoting large camera installations to rant my political opinions, now is the time I flap my lips. These punks have no respect for public or private property, and will not think twice about breaking your windows, smashing your property, and generally being royal pain’s in the arses.

While this is America, and you can voice your opinion as much as you like, these bastards are replicating European style anarchy that is hell-bent on destroying the Republic, and turning this once great country into some kind of commie, pinko socialist poop hole where all activities designed to make a profit are evil and abolished. While I totally agree that our Government is hell bent out of control, and need to stop spending and not raise one more dime of revenue, I don’t want some smelly dread locked person living @ Mom’s to get in my way and delay my daily routines by blocking the streets so I can’t drive to where I need to, or go to my bank to deposit the huge profits us capitalists make every hour. These people are really 1%’rs, not 99%ers. With over 300 million people in the USA, these people hardly even make up 1% of the population. You don’t speak for the majority of Americans who love capitalism, who love to make money. Money is not evil, you are evil. We strive to make the biggest profit we can.

This is the USA, not a socialist country. It’s not fair, it can’t be equal, and it never was designed to be. Quit crying about equality because the only things you are guaranteed here is the right to pursue your own dreams, smelly brown stuff will come out of your butt, and you will die. Make the most of it and quit complaining. Become your own Steve Jobs, invent the next greatest thing. However, the only thing you will invent crying about things is your own demise. If you want a handout, go to a country in Europe that loves to give all the taxes away to foreigners. This is American damit, and we are not a socialist state and it’s high time we toss out the bums like Pelosi, Reid, and all democrats, and put in people who want to save the Republic.

Anyway, they will soon be coming to a town near you, and you don’t want some panty waist camera out there, you want a rugged, high quality, ACTi 4 MP vandal proof dome to record their activities.

ACTi KCM-7111 H.264 4-Megapixel IP Day Night Vandal Proof PoE Rugged Dome

ACTi has this great software that installs on a newer PC, and you can watch the zombies from your iPhone while you are counting your millions at BOA. The first 16 cameras are free, or look at their new line of NVR’s, the GNR-2000 Desktop Standalone NVR, which accepts up to 10TB of storage, and comes with 4 licenses. You can add up to 12 more licenses for a total of 16 cameras. The XNR 4200 64 Camera Rack mount Standalone NVR comes with 16 licensees, and can accept up to 64 on a rack mount that takes up to 12TB of storage.

Whew, enough, my blood is boiling and my eyes are about to pop.

Catch The Bad Guys With A Vivotek NR8301 8 Camera Network Video Recorder

    Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

We just heard there was a home invasion robbery in the USA every 60 seconds. That’s incredible and we hear every day about people who had their car damaged, property stolen, or just complete weirdo’s tearing up their flower, stealing their yard ornaments, or actually burning a US flag! Man, that blows my gasket!

If you don’t have any video cameras at your home or business, and you are looking for an easy to use solution that won’t break the bank to catch the punks, or just check up on your kids, elderly parents, or pets, check out the new network video recorders from Vivotek.

Vivotek IP cameras combine great performance at a wonderful price. All you need to record them is a fairly new PC to install the Vivotek capture and management software, or if you don’t have a PC, they just released a 4 camera Vivotek network video recorder, and a 8 channel Vivotek NVR that works seamlessly with all Vivotek network cameras.

The Worlds Smallest Vehicle DVR and GPS Data Logger
Vivotek NR8301 8 Camera Network Video Recorder

The NVR automatically detects any Vivotek cameras as soon as you plug them into a switch that is plugged into your router. A PoE switch will not only power a PoE camera, it will also carry the video to the NVR. Couple the NVR with 4-8 indoor or outdoor cameras, and you can watch indoor and outdoor from any Internet browser, or with their new iViewer Mobile device software, you can pull your cameras up on your iPhone or iPad.

Our customers tell us they love the quality of Vivotek over old CCTV cameras, and especially love the price. If you need help selecting cameras, give us a shout.

The Vivotek VS8801 8 Camera Video Encoder Saves Your Old Cameras

    Friday, June 3rd, 2011

If you have a bunch of old CCTV cameras that you paid an arm & a leg for by some hick camera installation company, and you are not ready to write them off, a great way to preserve your investment in 20th century legacy technology is with a Vivotek IP Video Encoder, like the Vivotek VS8801 8 Camera H.264 Video Server. Instead of plugging the coax cable into a DVR, you plug the into the video server.

    Vivotek VS8801
    Vivotek VS8801 8 Camera H.264 Video Server

This network server takes up to 8 analog CCTV cameras, digitizes the video stream, and turns them into a Vivotek network camera that you can access anywhere in the world online, on your iPhone, or your iPad! You can use a newer PC to install their free recording and central management software, or if you don’t have one, consider a network video recorder from Vivotek or QNAP to record and access the video.

We just had a customer set up some new Vivotek IP8332 H.264 Outdoor Day & Night Network Bullet Cameras, and had a few old b/w cameras outside that they did not want to replace yet, though were not able to be viewed with the new cameras. The Vivotek VS8801 came to the rescue, and for a little over $100 a camera, can turn old analog cameras into network cameras that can be viewed with the Included Vivotek software, so you can pull them all up at the same time.

The advantage of using a network video recorder over a PC? Since they are what is called an embedded system, like a TiVo, they are immune from the ten hundred million PC virus’s out there, have embedded O/S in ROM, so you don’t have to worry about your drive or O/S becoming infected and possibly destroying your data, draw a fraction of the electricity of a PC, and are the size of an external hard drive enclosure, saving desk space.

Vivotek also makes a 4 camera, and a 1 camera server, though if you have a bunch of cameras, you can put up to 3 of these 8 camera or 4 camera video servers on a rack, giving you 12-24 video servers. Keep adding as many as you need. Also add up to 8 audio channels, and you can hang on to the 20th century for a little while longer

Call us if you need any help with the transition.

EyeSpyPro Hosted Video Recording Service Gives You Peace Of Mind

    Monday, January 3rd, 2011

We have had a lot of interest in the EyeSpyPro.com Hosted Video Recording service, and wanted to announce a change to the plans. This is a video surveillance solution that does not require large investments in recording equipment. What we do is host the video storage for you, so you don’t have to make an investment in a network video recorder. This service is ideal for homeowners or real estate investors who want to keep an eye on their property.

A hosted video service is also great for any business, as you can use this as a 1-2 camera back-up service that will record and store video offsite, so even if a thief steals your video recording equipment, we have them on film far away, and you can access it on any Internet browser, iPhone, Blackberry, or Droid phone. Or if you have multiple locations, like sandwich shops, restaurants, gift shops, etc, you can put 1-4 cameras at each location, allowing you to access live video from any camera, as well as record all events.

Check out some of the footage caught by an HVR Enabled Axis 207W at Wayne’s during their Tuesday night league.

So we changed the service to a storage based solution, where you can pick your storage levels, depending on your needs. A 1GB package is $15.95 per month, and can record about 10 hours of straight video, enough to cover most shifts or hours of operation, or on motion detection, will record up to 7 days with 5% motion, or about 1.25 hours per day of video. After that, the oldest videos are deleted to make room for the current videos.

You can be notified if motion occurs by email, as well if there is a power failure. You can also choose 7GB, 14GB, or 28GB, depending on your needs. You will save thousands on not having to buy an NVR, and let us worry about upgrades, back-ups, and other maintenance.

All you need is a qualified AXIS network camera that is listed here, or if you have CCTV cameras, you can use an AXIS video encoder, and get good quality results. If the camera is already PoE, all you need is a PoE switch to power the camera, and record the video. If not, you can get a PoE splitter/injector to also power the camera, otherwise you need to power it with electricity.

There are 41 different AXIS IP cameras to choose from, and 3 video encoders for legacy CCTV cameras. You can also take one of our wired hidden cameras, and hook it to a video encoder, for your covert, hidden camera applications. The software is super easy to use, and we will have our portal ready next week. You just log in to access the live feeds, and you can take a snapshot, or manually record 20 second clips.

If you have a PTZ IP camera, you can zoom in/out with your mouse scroll wheel, or click to the right side to change the view to the right. You need about 400kbs per camera of upload speed, and for more info, give us a call @ 1-877-3-EYESPY (1-877-339-3779) for more information or to get started.
