Speco Hybrid DVRs Can Add IP Cameras And Salvage Your CCTV Camera Investment

    Friday, June 18th, 2010

If you have a aging CCTV camera video surveillance system that you invested too much money into, and find yourself drooling over the new Network IP Cameras, then there is hope. Speco announces the Speco H.264 16 Camera Hybrid Pentaplex Digital Video Recorder Family with Network DDNS Video Server, which is a new line of hybrid DVR’s that will let you hook up analog CCTV and network ip cameras.

If you have CCTV cameras that are working for you, you have 3 options if you need to expand:

    • You can leave it alone and add more CCTV cameras, running more cable, though you can go to a video balun set up to make that easy.
    • You can invest in a Hybrid DVR that will allow you to hook up analog and digital cameras.
    • You can buy encoders that will convert the feed to digital, making the camera a network camera.

We will cover the Hybrid DVR in this post, and cover the encoder idea in another post. A hybrid DVR is a great way to transition into the digital world, as it’s still a fully functional DVR that you are use to, it will also let you expand with network cameras, which you can’t do with your current DVR.

The AXIS M1054 IP Network Camera Is The Worlds Smallest HD Network Video Camera

    Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

We finally updating all of our products, since we spent some time updating our email newsletters, and we found the AXIS M1054 IP Network Camera, the worlds smallest HD IP Network camera. AXIS is the leader in network cameras, with over 2 million in the field, and now they move to the HD format, further nailing the coffin on the CCTV camera grave.

If you are tired of poor quality, tiny video, it’s time to start looking at network cameras, and these new mini network cameras are going to give you huge, crisp video, that can be stored on a standard, off-the shelf PC, or the new line of Mini NVR’s that we will introduce later this week.

Only 2.3 wide x 3.7 inches tall, and white, they blend in at home, or your business, giving you a discrete way to capture the video, without big honking cameras pointing at people. The AXIS cameras are smart, they can tell when they are being tampered with, moved, or spray painted over, as well as detect motion, and alert you to specific events. With the included software, it’s a snap to find your camera once you connect it to a PoE switch, or use the built-in wireless feature to stream secure, digital video with audio.

The built in microphone, and speaker, let you hear what is going on, as well as play pre-recorded warnings or messages. The built-in white LED allows you to get a great image @ night.

Check out how a 21st century surveillance system can handle a break-in:

As Carlito use to say on the WWE, while chomping an apple; "Now that’s cool!"

Stop Inventory Theft With The AXIS M7001 Mini Video Encoder and Covert Camera

    Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

One thing lacking of Network IP cameras are hidden cameras. I do not know of any hidden IP Network cameras on the market; do you?

The only way to get a true hidden camera is to use a pinhole lens that sees through a tiny hole in a clock radio, wall clock, fan, or other consumer device.

However, network IP cameras have huge lenses, and would result in a huge hole in the clock radio that would give it away.

So what are you going to do? Well, AXIS released the AXIS M7001 Mini Video Encoder and covert camera kit, which allows you to use a tiny, analog camera, and encode it to digital at the source, turning any wireless or wired CCTV camera into a Network camera for a low cost.

AXIS M7001 Mini Video Encoder With Covert Camera
AXIS M7001 Mini Video Encoder With Covert Camera

It includes a little covert analog CCTV camera that has a mini jack plug to not only send the analog video to the digital video encoder, it also powers the camera. Put it in an out of the way place, and you can get great video that would be stored to a standard PC.

What AXIS offers is that you can use a regular PC to store the video, and free software to view and record. Just plug the camera into the encoder, and it will power the camera.

The encoder is PoE compliant, which means it is powered over ethernet, allowing you to run just one ethernet cable from a PoE switch, to the encoder, and it will power it and the camera. Pretty slick, eh?

Then you can view the camera feed live on any Internet connected PC or smart phone.

The beauty of the M7001 video encoder is that any inexpensive analog wired hidden cameras can be hooked up to this device, turning it into a network IP camera. As long as you can power the camera, you can use any inexpensive wired hidden camera, allowing you full remote access, for the price of a SD card nanny cam, which can’t be viewed online.

So if you need a Nanny cam with internet access to watch what your kids, Nanny, or elderly parents caregiver is doing during the day, from work, you are S.O.L.

If you need to watch over your office, home, children, or elderly parents, and you can run a video cable from a wired hidden camera, now you can watch them when you are away.

The AXIS M7001 Mini Video Encoder with Covert camera makes a great way to have a network IP camera filming video, without being obvious, or order it on it’s own with one of our wired or wireless hidden cameras.

CTC Union Video Encoders Update Your Legacy CCTV Cameras To Network IP Cameras

    Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

We just added the CTC Union line of Network IP Cameras, NVR Software, and H.264 Video Encoders – Decoders. The Video Encoders come in stand-alone versions, or blade versions that can go into 2, 4, or 20 channel rack mount chassis. A Video Encoder is used to bring your analog CCTV video surveillance system to the 21st century by digitizing the video, turning the camera into a Network IP Camera.

Why? Well, the video resolution is better. With a megapixel IP camera, you can cover a whole parking lot, and using an ePTZ function, zoom into the important areas, and read a license plate.

Or no interlacing problems. On moving subjects, they will be much clearer when you digitize the entire picture, not 1/2, then the other 1/2, as interlacing does on CCTV cameras. And with H.264, you can crush the size of the file down to a fraction of MJPEG, or 1/2 the size of MPEG4.

The blades come with the ability to have a hard drive onboard, thus reducing the burden on your network. Dual streaming is standard, so you can browse on a normal PC without crashing it, as well as sending the compressed videoto your NVR.

You will get D1 resolution @ 30fps, with quality that will rival Bosch, at a price of Vivotek…

If you are looking to update your aging CCTV video surveillance system, check-out the full line of CTC Union H.264 Video Encoders.

    Forklift Accident Caught On Video

    Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Check out this silly video. We put together a 16 Camera Analog Surveillance System for a customer, and the very first day they turned it on, they recorded this forklift accident on video. It’s less than a minute, and we see the driver is going too fast for the situation…

While the video won’t pay for the loss, it does identify a driver who was going too fast and did not have his pallet aligned correctly.

No matter if you need 1 Nanny Cam to watch your caregiver, 4 Camera Video Surveillance System to watch inside & outside your home, or 8-256 Complete Megapixel IP Network Surveillance System for your business, give us a shout @ 877-339-3779 to help identify the correct products to meet your needs.

Update Your Old Surveillance System To The 21st Century With The Vivotek VS8102 H.264 Network Video Server

    Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

We put up a few new Vivotek IP Network cameras, as well as their new Vivotek VS8102 H.264 Video Server. We love Vivotek because they provide good value. I read that value is where price and quality meet, and that is what you get with Vivotek.

The H.264 Video server is the perfect way to take your current CCTV set-up and move into the 21st century of network IP video surveillance w/o breaking the bank. It allows you to hook up a CCTV camera, and turn it into a network camera, since a video server is really a network camera w/o the lens. So you use your current camera to not scrap your investment, unplug your camera from the BNC connector on the DVR, and plug it into the Vivotek video server’s BNC connector, hook it up with Cat 5 cable to a switch that is connected to your LAN, and you can send the signals over your local area network to be stored in a Network Video Recorder, or NVR or PC set up to store the video.

Vivotek VS8102 H.264 Video Server Single Channel Network Video Server With Audio
Vivotek VS8102 H.264 Video Server Single Channel Network Video Server With Audio

The advantages of the H.264 over MPEG-4 is that the video is almost double the compression, up to 80% more compressed than MJEPG video. H.264 is MPEG-10, which saves you a lot of space on your network, so you can store more video over MPEG-4 or MJEPG.

Vivotek even provides free software so you can have your cameras up & running in the blink of a chameleon’s eye. If you have been wanting to take advantages of the benefits of IP network cameras, such as bettery video quality with no interlacing problems, yet don’t want to scrap your current investment in CCTV cameras, the Vivotek IP Video Encoders are a good bridge from the past to the future.

Surveillance Catches Man Dressing In Drag As His Mother

    Thursday, June 18th, 2009

An apparent closet drag queen was arrested in New York for leeching off New York’s generous welfare program, while pretending to be his mother, who kicked the bucket 6 years ago!

A clip of DMV video surveillance shows Thomas Parken dressed up as his Mother, Muth-ah, as my NY Mother use to say. I miss Mom, even 30 years after escaping New York, she could not shake that NY accent. Luckily I was only 10 when we left, so I never called a bottle a bot-ul, or New Uork.

Anyway, what on earth would cause a grown man go through so much work to claim what, $16,666 a year??? That’s poverty level, and he could make that in a few months if he applied his brain to something productive, instead of FRAUD.

I don’t want a darn thing from the Government, except to be left alone, and it’s just amazing that someone would work so hard to get so little.

Though he did look pretty good in the grainy video clip. He looks like an older woman, and I have seen many wear those huge glasses. And he showed up with an oxygen mask, which is brilliant, as it would be hard to talk with that on your face. Push her in with a wheel chair & a tube of oxygen, you can fool anyone.

Thought the video isn’t that great. I am sure they are old cameras at the DMV, and with the move toward Megapixel Network IP cameras, the days of interlacing & blurry video are pretty much over.

We a new Axis partner, and if you are considering updating your current CCTV cameras, or installing new network IP cameras, give us a call @ 877-339-3779 to discuss how you can either integrate the new digital technology in your current analog system, replacing the old system with an all digital solution, or installing a new system. We can also offer Nationwide installations for home or business.
