The AXIS P8514 Covert Network Camera Catches Criminals At Eye Level

    Tuesday, May 15th, 2012

AXIS Communications just launched the AXIS P8514 Covert Network Camera, a 1 megapixel hidden IP camera that is perfect for any retail or bank installation. The AXIS P8514 Covert Network Camera actually is hidden in a pipe like object and points right an average persons face. And the best part about it is that no more surveillance video of a guys hat! Since this is not looking down at the ceiling, they can’t cover their face with a baseball cap.

And it comes with a sticker that makes it look like it’s an innocent looking height measurement tool, however, only you will know it’s filming video of the punk that just tried to rob you. It also comes in a SVGA model that records up to 800 x 600 resolution if you are on a budget.

Autotrack Criminal Activity With GeoVision IP Speed Dome

    Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

GeoVision has revamped their network camera offerings in the last couple years, and now offer stunning cameras like the GeoVision GV SD010 Indoor IP Speed Dome, which comes in 18x or 36x, and has some incredible auto-tracking software.

A Pan-Tilt-Zoom or PTZ IP camera is ideal when you have a person monitoring a certain area, allowing them to turn and zoom right in on anything suspicious or questionable. Unlike a fixed camera, which does not turn, or a zoom camera, which just zoom’s in, this PTZ camera can literally spin in a 360 degree circle. You can also set up pre-set tours of duty, so it go from point to point to point, no matter where you set it, or just turn slowly, or anything in between. Then, when the camera sees motion, it zooms in on, and locks to follow any person, vehicle, or other moving object.

And, GeoVision comes with their easy to use, advanced Network Camera Software. It can be installed on a new PC, or we can supply a rack mounted server for larger installations. You can add up to 32 GeoVision IP cameras, and it does work with many popular 3rd party IP cameras, you will just have to pay for a license. You can check the list of supported IP Camera models here.

And it comes with a ton of free analytic and other features. Call us for more info to either migrate from your old CCTV cameras, or expand with new GeoVision Network cameras. We can even arrange for installation if you don’t want to do it yourself.

ACTi’s Amazing 4 Megapixel Zoom Network Cameras

    Saturday, November 19th, 2011

ACTi recently released a ton of new network cameras and network video recorders and we are blown away. So I recently slithered over to ACTi’s Irvine, CA office, and they went through a few demonstrations of their new 4 megapixel IP cameras like the ACTi KCM 5211E 18x Zoom H.264 4 Megapixel PoE Outdoor IP Camera.

ACTi KCM 5211E 18x Zoom H.264 4 Megapixel PoE Outdoor IP Camera

The KCM-5211E is an outdoor zoom camera that has stunning long range capabilities to let you zoom right in on license plates or faces. With 18x optical zoom, it rivals my eyes for their advanced features.

Check out this demo video of the KCM-5211E on YouTube of a license plate close-up, across a parking lot!:

If you need to watch over a parking lot, or anywhere you need to zoom in for a better look, you can’t go wrong with the ACTi line of 4 megapixel indoor or outdoor zoom cameras.

Actually, it looks like their little dome camera, the AXIS M3014, however, this one has full PTZ functions, and is so small, you almnost won’t see it. There is a nice demo video of the quality, which is really stunning, if I do say so. This is why AXIS is the leader in network cameras, constantly coming out with the very best IP cameras.

Troubleshooting The GeoVision 4MP Fisheye IP Camera

    Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

We had a customer have trouble getting his GeoVision 4MP Fisheye IP Camera to work. Seems you have to do a couple things first in order to get them to work over PoE or power over ethernet.

These are ceiling mount cameras that can give you a 360 degree view of a room, or focus on 1/2 the room, or different quarters.

    GeoVision 4MP Fisheye IP Camera
    GeoVision 4MP Fisheye IP Camera

If you can’t access the camera over Internet Explorer, you can get them to work by changing the IP address of the camera to the same as the router. There is a program on the cd where you can change the IP address of the camera. The camera also works under Windows XP professional. a Black and White problem can be solved in video installation in the web browser.

You have to access the camera through Internet Explorer because it’s using ActiveX technology. Also, on windows 7, UAC need to be temporarily disabled when running the browser for the first time. We also installed the NVR software and had no issues. 64 bit OS seems to be a requirement. We also tested with 32 bit OS but it looks like B/W – Color switch modes do not work properly.

We put up a video on YouTube showing a product walk-through. Check it out; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jt4j8NO103M

How To Register A Camera For The EyeSpyPro.com Hosted Video Service

    Friday, March 18th, 2011

The EyeSpyPro.com Hosted Video Service is a great way to quickly set up a video surveillance camera at your home or business, and not have to buy or hassle with recording equipment or software. All you do is register the camera, power it and plug it in your router with Internet access, and you are recording. On new cameras, we pre-register it for you. If you have one of the supported AXIS network cameras, this article will help you get up & running quickly.

The EyeSpyPro.com Hosted Video Service will only work with the AXIS Network cameras on this link.

    How to register a camera:

The process of registering a camera can be fairly straight-forward, provided that you have the correct information for your camera ahead of time. Here is what you will need:

    1. The camera’s serial number (can be found on the bottom of the camera)
    2. The camera’s Owner Authentication Key (OAK) (if this is a non-One Click camera, or if you use the “one-click” method)

Many newer Axis cameras are now being produced with the One-Click firmware. This firmware will allow them to perform in a hosted or non-hosted environment. Check with your camera distributor or EyeSpyPro.com to find out if your camera has the One-Click firmware. All other cameras should follow the standard procedure.

    1. First, access the camera locally using your web browser. If you do not have the local IP of the camera, you can discover it using Axis’ IP Utility.
    2. The page you should now see is the default splash screen for hosted cameras. A message on screen will say, “This camera is part of a hosted video system…”. If you do not see this screen, the camera may not have the correct firmware.
    3. Log into your EyeSpyPro.com user account.
    4. Click “Settings”, then “Add Camera”. You may now add the camera with the serial number and OAK for this camera.
    5. The server will process your request, reaching out to the dispatch servers to both register your camera there and to reconfigure your camera to connect to your Secure-i user portal.

    For One-Click cameras:

One-Click cameras can be registered using one of two methods. The “one-click” method is designed for quickly registering a camera that you have physical access to. The “always on” method is slightly more involved, but requires only browser access to the camera to register.

    The “One-click” Method:

    1. This method should be used for cameras you are installing directly after unboxing them (or have been factory reset). You must have physical access to the camera and you must have the camera OAK.
    2. Power on the camera.
    3. Press the camera’s control button until the status LED blinks green to signify that the camera is ready to be registered. Note: Once registered the camera stays connected to the AVHS service. If the camera is not registered within 24 hours after the button is pressed, the camera will disconnect from the AVHS service.
    4. Log into your EyeSpyPro.com user account.
    5. Click “Settings”, then “Add Camera”. You may now add the camera with the serial number and OAK for this camera.

    The “Always On” Method:

    1. You will need local network access to the camera for this method.
    2. Access the camera locally using your web browser. If the camera prompts you to set a root password, do so. Note: the password should be unique. Avoid using generic names like “pass” or “root”.
    3. Click on System Options -> Network
    4. Under “Enable AVHS”, select “Always On”
    5. The camera will now reach out to the dispatchers, and should be available for registration after about a minute.
    6. Log into your EyeSpyPro.com user account.
    7. Click “Settings”, then “Add Camera”. You may now add the camera with the serial number and root password that you set.
