Axton Technologies Infrared Illuminators Light Up The Night

    Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

We recently added the Axton line of Infrared Illuminators, and if you have lighting issues with your video surveillance system, you should look at Axton Technologies Infrared Illuminators. They are an up & coming company that focuses on one thing, providing the best Infrared Illuminators on the market. They use high standards to build high quality equipment at an affordable price. All of their products use a heavy duty constructed housing is completely sealed against the elements, and is waterproof (IP-66 rated).

All Axton products are covered by a lifetime warranty, and are made in the USA. Oversaturation of artificial light or light pollution has a deleterious effect on humans, and animals react negatively to it. With a drive toward a green philosophy, the create products that drastically reduce light pollution and help make the world greener.

Axton makes some very covert IR Illuminators. They offer two types, the older 850 nanometer IR’s that have a slight red glow under their black plastic face, and the invisible to the human eye 940 nanometer technology. What is great about Axton is that they also make them in four versions, with four different illumination distances & angles, in short, medium, and long range distances.

The Alpha Series have internal 12V DC regulated power supply with over voltage protection, and the back panel features built-in photocell that acts as an automatic day/night switch, and one or two tripod sockets for additional mounting options and convenience. The B Series is the same with no photocell, and they are turned on & off manually.

The third is their Power over Ethernet (PoE) Megapixel series which simplify system design and installation by allowing a SINGLE PoE enabled cable to power up both the IR illuminator and the camera. There are 3 versions, one is powered by PoE so you don’t have to run power to the illuminator, the 1 series powers both the IR and your camera, and the 2 series is PoE and will also trigger I/O alarms.

The Smart series can be remotely controlled by wire to adjust output power and photocell threshold, as well as externally triggered to emit a single or a sequence of light pulses. Digital I/O ports allow to synchronize illuminator with cameras or any other external alarming devices, and to activate peripheral devices at the same time. The SMART series IR illuminators also have extended DC/AC input. All these features allow easy integration of the IR illuminators into existing security system and to improve and expand performances of the entire network.

    Happy Halloween From EyeSpyPro

    Monday, October 26th, 2009

This year keep your goblins safe, & make sure you have a good outdoor camera with night vision like the The VersaCam LiveView Super IR Weatherproof Camera to make sure punks don’t go smashing your pumpkins.

I am sure some people drop a lot of coin on Halloween decorations, only to wake up one morning to see them stolen or destroyed. That would burn my burrito if it was my stuff. If you want a quick and easy way to get set up with a great quality night vision camera in less than an hour, so you can see if any of the local zombies start tearing up your yard decorations.

The VersaCam LiveView Super IR Weatherproof Camera
The VersaCam LiveView Super IR Weatherproof Camera

The VersaCam Super IR is about the size of a coffee can and has a ton of infrareds so it will see well at night. The IR’s glow red, and we put a video here called: What Does An Infrared Illuminator Look Like At Night to show you what they look like.

All you gotta do is run some power to it. They still make those screw in plugs if you have an old flood light you are not using. Then the Super IR will send wireless signals to a little box that gets plugged into a TV or the USB port on your PC. It won’t work on a Mac. Install the Blue Iris software and you can see the camera during the day or night.

If you want to be master of your property, set up a VersaCam Super IR, and sleep safe at night like one of our customers who has a similar set up:

"I wanted to let you that with the installation of the night vision/DVR combo we ordered from you we now feel more secure in our home. There had been some break-ins in recent weeks in our neighborhood. With this system we are able to monitor any activity outside of our home at night while we sleep and when we are not at home. Thank you,"

    George Gray Bloomington, IN

I could not have done better if I made it up myself.

    Oh yeah, I almost forgot…

What Does An Infrared Illuminator Look Like @ Night?

    Friday, September 11th, 2009

So many people call us to know what an Infrared Illuminator looks like at night. You will find them either on a video surveillance camera to improve night recording, or sold as stand alone units that help regular CCTV cameras see better at night.

The VersaCam VC/36 is our 2nd best selling camera with IR’s, so we set up one @ night and video taped it from a 2nd story mount, and zoomed in. Check it out!

What’s great about the VersaCam VC/36 is that it’s a wireless camera that can be hooked up to the VersaCam base, a 2.4GHz standard receiver, or it has a plug to be a wired camera you run a cable to.

The VersaCam base allows you to connect up to 4 cameras to a little box that connects to your PC. Wireless signals are sent from each camera to the base, allowing you to rotate the view, 3.5 seconds per camera, if you need that many. It’s really for 1-2 cameras, though if you are on a budget, you can hook up to 4.
