GeoVision Mini Pan Tilt IP Camera Works At Home Or The Office

    Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

Leave it to GeoVision to come up with GeoVision GV PT 110D 1.3MP H.264 IR Pan Tilt IP Camera, an affordable pan/tilt camera to watch over your home security or office security when you are not around. The mini pan/tilt camera does not zoom, however, you it can turn to the left or right, or up or down. GeoVision comes with free software that you can install on a PC to make a home video recorder, or you can look at the GV NVR System Lite, a 4 or 8 channel tiny Network Video Recorder (NVR) that will record the video, and allow you to access it online, or on a smart phone/pad.

And the GeoVision software has included auto-tracking built in, so you can have the camera automatically track someone when they come into the field of view. Check out the video below demonstrating that.

So you get a low priced pan/tilt camera with free software that automatically tracks objects that come into view. It can also set up a “tour,” where it goes from certain locations, like doors or windows, until it sees something, or just turns left or right constantly or whenever you want. You can tell it to do whatever you want it to do.

Autotrack Criminal Activity With GeoVision IP Speed Dome

    Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

GeoVision has revamped their network camera offerings in the last couple years, and now offer stunning cameras like the GeoVision GV SD010 Indoor IP Speed Dome, which comes in 18x or 36x, and has some incredible auto-tracking software.

A Pan-Tilt-Zoom or PTZ IP camera is ideal when you have a person monitoring a certain area, allowing them to turn and zoom right in on anything suspicious or questionable. Unlike a fixed camera, which does not turn, or a zoom camera, which just zoom’s in, this PTZ camera can literally spin in a 360 degree circle. You can also set up pre-set tours of duty, so it go from point to point to point, no matter where you set it, or just turn slowly, or anything in between. Then, when the camera sees motion, it zooms in on, and locks to follow any person, vehicle, or other moving object.

It can be installed on a new PC, or we can supply a rack mounted server for larger installations. You can add up to 32 GeoVision IP cameras, and it does work with many popular 3rd party IP cameras, you will just have to pay for a license. You can check the list of supported IP Camera models here.

And it comes with a ton of free analytic and other features. Call us for more info to either migrate from your old CCTV cameras, or expand with new GeoVision Network cameras. We can even arrange for installation if you don’t want to do it yourself.

Check Out The New GeoVision GV LX4C3D1 Four Channel Compact DVR

    Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

GeoVision just released their new line of compact DVR’s that accept analog CCTV cameras, and have all the features of a GeoVision DVR when connected to the recently updated Center V2 Central Monitoring Software v8.5. The GeoVision GV LX4C3D1 Four Channel Compact DVR is a small format, 4 camera digital video recorder that will let you connect 4 of your old, or high quality new CCTV cameras, and record on up to 2TB of storage in the one bay unit.

So lets say you got a store or two with some decent cameras and a VCR or ancient DVR. Well that thing will one day break, or you can’t find, or are sick of messing with video tapes, and want to enter the 21st century of video surveillance. How easy would it be to migrate to this? How about taking the same cables that run from the cameras, and connecting them to this puppy, and you are recording to a tiny box that has a foot print smaller than a piece of paper (9.6 x 7 x 3.4 inches, 244 x 176 x 86 mm for you foreigners). It’s like installing a GeoVision DVR card in your PC and turning it into your recorder without the hassles of the PC platform.

The benefits of this is that it’s an embedded Linux O/S, NOT Windows, so it’s immune from viruses, constant annoying Windows reminders, and uses much less electricity, so you can say you are a green company saving the planet.

GeoVision has been the leader in DVR cards for years, and their GeoVision Center V2 Central Monitoring Station Software is up to version 8.5. After spending 3 days getting certified in it last month, we have developed a deeper love, almost a lust with GeoVision. Not only can you access the video from up to 500 DVR’s from all over the world, you can view the live images from up to 800 cameras.

However, that don’t mean squat if you got 2-3 stores and just want to keep a handle on them. The free version lets you watch up to 160 cameras from 5 DVR Card based DVR’s, NVR’s, or Compact DVR’s. Installing 1 of these at each location, and not having to drop some coin on replacing the cameras yet is a great way to transition to the 21st century. When you are ready, GeoVision makes some great IP cameras, though when you can still get decent 550+ line analog cameras for 1/2 the price, and you are on a budget, this product is a God send. When you are ready to go digital, we’ll take you there.

GeoVision 360 Degree Fisheye Cameras Have Great Auto Tracking Features

    Thursday, December 22nd, 2011

We just finished day two of three days of Certification over @ GeoVision’s USA offices in Irvine, and it’s been worth every second. GeoVision has always been the gold standard for their GeoVision DVR cards, which turn a PC into a Digital Video Recorder, they had been lacking in network IP cameras.

GeoVision 4 Megapixel Fish Eye Camera Includes Object Tracking

GeoVision 4 Megapixel Fish Eye Camera

That’s all changed in the last few months with GeoVision launching a ton of new IP cameras, and one of the coolest is their GeoVision 4MP Fisheye IP Camera 360 degree megapixel cameras. While the ability to film a complete room with one camera, and the ability to break it up into either 2 or 4 quadrants, and have them rotate with software enhancement is cool, the auto tracking feature blew us away.

When the auto tracking feature is enabled, the camera will automatically track a person or object when it enters the picture, while they walk around the room.

And their latest version of their 8.5 software has many, many improvements. If you are running older software, you must upgrade to 8.5 for many reasons. One is the ability to run higher frame rates due to it utilizing the CPU more efficiently.

And the latest version uses the Sandy Bridge feature in the new Intel CPU’s that let the software hand off some of the processing to the GPU, instead of dumping it all on the CPU, resulting in a 20% drop in CPU load from 70% to about 50%. I am foaming at the mouth!

If all that has your head spinning faster than Linda Blair in the Exorcist, give us a call and we can splain it in layman’s terms.

Troubleshooting The GeoVision 4MP Fisheye IP Camera

    Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

We had a customer have trouble getting his GeoVision 4MP Fisheye IP Camera to work. Seems you have to do a couple things first in order to get them to work over PoE or power over ethernet.

These are ceiling mount cameras that can give you a 360 degree view of a room, or focus on 1/2 the room, or different quarters.

If you can’t access the camera over Internet Explorer, you can get them to work by changing the IP address of the camera to the same as the router. There is a program on the cd where you can change the IP address of the camera. The camera also works under Windows XP professional. a Black and White problem can be solved in video installation in the web browser.

You have to access the camera through Internet Explorer because it’s using ActiveX technology. Also, on windows 7, UAC need to be temporarily disabled when running the browser for the first time. We also installed the NVR software and had no issues. 64 bit OS seems to be a requirement. We also tested with 32 bit OS but it looks like B/W – Color switch modes do not work properly.

We put up a video on YouTube showing a product walk-through. Check it out; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jt4j8NO103M
