The Phantom: The Ultimate Self Contained Hidden Camera Surveillance System

    Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Just when we though we found the best hidden Nanny cam, comes the SecureShot Phantom Cube Radio dual camera, self contained, hidden camera and DVR surveillance system.

The SecureShot Covert Phantom Sony Cube Radio Hidden Camera With DVR uses a small Sony radio, and hidden inside is not one, but two cameras that automatically switch to low light when it gets dark. The beauty is there is no SD card slots, plugs, or lights exposed; everything is hidden behind a “secret compartment” that only you have the key for.

Many people contact us looking for a good way to watch over their child or elderly parent when they are away. Just set up this innocent working radio and point it at what you want to record. The included wireless remote quickly “arms” the Phantom, and it will start recording when it senses movement.

It records to internal SD cards and can take up to a 16GB SD card for days of video. You can take the SD card out and view the files on your computer, or use the included cable to watch on your TV.

The Phantom Hidden Camera has two internal cameras; one high resolution color camera for days, and a low light high resolution camera with bright infrared LED’s that invisibly light up a dark room. Perfect for watching over your Parents or Grandparents when you are not around.

Or watch over your Nanny, child, or house cleaner. The Phantom blends in with any location, home, office, or warehouse. It’s super easy to set up anywhere; a hospital, assisted living center, or a relatives house.

Check out our Spy & Surveillance Super Store for more information on the SecureShot Covert Phantom Sony Cube Radio Dual Hidden Camera With DVR.

The Multifunctional Megapixel Pocket Digital Video Recorder

    Monday, January 5th, 2009

We found a new drool worthy toy called the Multifunctional Megapixel Pocket Digital Video Recorder that combines a megapixel video camera and a SD Card DVR recorder into a little box smaller than a pack of cigarettes.

What blows us away about the Megapixel Pocket DVR is that it not only records super clear 1280 x 1020 video at 8 frames a second, it also will take an unlimited size micro SD card, so you can record for hours and hours, depending on recharging the Li battery, which lasts about 3.5 hours per charge.

The Multifunctional Megapixel Pocket Digital Video Recorder
The Multifunctional Megapixel Pocket Digital Video Recorder

It’s super easy to use, just charge the internal battery through the USB port with the included 110v adapter. Insert your micro SD card, and push the power button. Push it again to start recording. The light blinks red every second. Push it again to stop; can you get any simpler? You can quickly adjust the quality of the video and record in the following options: 1240 x 1020 at 8 or 2 fps, and 640 x 480 in 30 or 2 fps.

All of the videos record super clear video, though the 640 @ 2 fps is pretty jerky, though very clear. Nothing we carry will record with this quality. While it’s a little bigger and not as easily concealed, it comes with a number of brackets to mount the camera on the wall, like a regular surveillance camera, in your car to record the trip or watch at night for vandals, mount it on a bicycle or motor cycle handlebar for action movies, or put it on a neck strap and wear it like a necklace.

It does not have motion detection that we know of, so it’s limited for making your own hidden camera, as you want motion detection, or you can live with a 3.5 hour recording life.

This pocket DVR will work well for law enforcement, private investigators, accident adjusters, or if you want to record an interview or event. Find out more information, and to download actual sample files fromMultifunctional Megapixel Pocket Digital Video Recorder, visit our Spy & Surveillance Products Superstore.

How Upgraded is the Spy Pen Digital Video Recorder you ask? Well, there are so many, where do I start? How about clear 640 x 480 video? And audio that does not sound robotic or metallic. Time & Date stamping is real time and once you set it, you can forget it. You don’t have to keep updating it every day.

Oh, yes, probably the biggest improvement is the files are now 3gp, which means the DVR Spy pen works find on recent Apple computers OSX 10.5.x or 10.4.x. Unfortunately, Windows media play does not appear to play them, so you still VLC Media Player, a free open source media player to play the files.

What else? Oh, yes, the lights are red now, so we put together this video on the Spy Pen Digital Video Recorder to show you how easy it is to operate and put it on YouTube:

Vandalism, Burglaries, And Thieves, Oh No!

    Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

Our phones are ringing off the hook due to all the crime that is raging all across the country. A firemen, who is out protecting people had $4,000 of damage done to his new truck, including slashing extremely expensive tires and keying the paint.

Another call was from a business man who owns a storage facility that is being broken into, stealing peoples property.

And another call was from a bookshop owner in a high crime area where there have been a rash of burglaries.

All this in one morning! What the bookstore owner mentions, and we are seeing elsewhere, is that the thieves cut the power to the building, which shuts down the video surveillance system!

Unless you have an battery back-up that sits between the wall plug and the DVR/PC DVR and keeps the thing running for a short time, your expensive surveillance system will be worthless.

That brings up the point to not only have the battery-back-up, you might want to consider back-up power supplies, installing a solar powered power supply, or a back-up surveillance systems or individual cameras that don’t require electricity.

Anyway, there are many choices for good quality, low cost camera systems that will do the job, are easy to use and set-up, will record the person doing what they should not.

    Some choices to consider are:

  • 1 Camera Flood light camera
  • The VersaCam Live View Security cameras (1-4 Cameras)
  • The SecureShot MemoCam Hidden Camera/DVR units (1 camera)
  • A self contained Outdoor Camera with internal SD card
  • A DVR with built in LCD Monitor & 4 Camera Bundle
  • A 4-8-16 or more channel DVR with wired or wireless cameras
  • Network IP Camera surveillance system
  • We will devote each blog post to one of the above products. This one will cover the Complete 4 Camera Indoor-Outdoor Video Surveillance System And DVR With Built In LCD. What we like about this product is that it is not only a sub $1,000 complete video surveillance system, it combines a DVR with a built in LCD screen that makes setting up and using this product a piece of cake.

    The Compact Monocular

The 4 Camera Surveillance System & DVR with LCD comes with four indoor/outdoor night vision cameras. These are perfect for outside applications as they can withstand rain and storms, and see up to 15 feet in total darkness. If there is some light, the infrared will help brighten up the picture. You can set up 2 or 4 of them to watch the premiter of your house, or put 2 inside or in a warehouse to watch inside.

It comes with all cables and brackets you need to get up and running quickly. You just run the video cable to the cameras through the ceiling and once you mount the cameras, they hook up easily. The DVR will store up to 40 days video on the internal hard drive and it can be acccessed over an Internet connected computer, or your iPhone or similar smart phone. This way, you can watch your business at night from home, or watch your home from work during the day.

If you are on a budget, and can’t afford a $2,000 plus surveillance system, the 4 Camera Indoor-Outdoor Video Surveillance System And DVR With Built In LCD could be just what you are looking for.

Do Public Surveillance Cameras Really Fight Crime?

    Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

A sad story from San Francisco, after spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on video surveillance cameras around the city, it’s been reported they are of such poor quality, nor do they have the budget to monitor them, so they sit there, like those plastic owls you put on your roof to scare away the crows.

Only this time, it’s punks on the street that are starting to discover those fake owls don’t do squat.

William Gantt sat in a wheelchair at 16th and Mission on Monday afternoon, almost right under one of the city’s 76 crime surveillance cameras. Gantt, 56, said he was in favor of the cameras in his neighborhood, but was surprised to hear that no one was watching the feed.

“I always thought they were hooked up to a police station and they could see what was going on,” Gantt said.

Nope. That would make too much sense.

No doubt about it, the current crime camera program has problems. The video is choppy, the cameras are immobile, they don’t pick up images well at night, and the process to view a tape is too complicated. No wonder the cameras hardly ever seem to catch anyone doing anything wrong. “Why don’t we just turn them off and sell them for scrap?” asked Police Commission President Theresa Sparks. “That would save some money.”

This is completely different from home video surveillance systems that can help you solve crime because you are the one watching them.

We found a really cool Outdoor Night Vision Camera with a build in DVR!

The Color Day Night IR Camera with Built-in DVR. The Color Day Night IR Camera is a fully contained SD Card recording camera. You power the camera and you can set it up to record only when motion is detected. The Color Day Night IR Camera with Built-in DVR will record all day & night, 24/7/365.

The Color Day Night IR Camera

If you don’t want to set up a computer or DVR, the Color Day Night IR Camera with Built-in DVR might be your next best choice. You do need to get to it to remove the internal SD card to view the video, however, having the SD card inside is a great idea to make it full self contained.

It uses a high quality 1/3 inch CCD camera, and can take up to a 2GB SD card that will record up to 5 hours of solid video. With the motion detection, it can record for hours. It’s fully weatherproof, self contained, and you can adjust the focal point of the video to meet your needs.

If you want a good self contained outdoor surveillance camera that can take a licking & keep on ticking, and not need electricity, check out the Color Day Night IR Camera @ our online store.
