Record Extreme Sports With The Waterproof iSaw HD Sports Cam

    Thursday, April 26th, 2012

Starnex, who makes our #1 most popular product, the SecureShot Micro Eyes SD Card Recording Ball Camera CamBall, recently introduced the iSaw Wearable HD Sports Cam. This is an incredible little HD camcorder that can fit in your pocket, and comes with a waterproof case that lets you record your most awesome action sports moves, or just your everyday life in the rain, snow, or even up to 164 feet, or 50 meters under the water!

    iSaw Wearable HD Sports Cam

The iSaw Wearable HD Sports Cam is easy to use, and has a user friendly LCD menu that lets you easily set up the camera for recording. The waterproof case will protect the iSaw HD cam from any element. You can add up to 32GB of optional memory, and when you are finished, you can watch it on your TV or upload your crystal clear videos to YouTube.

    Here’s an underwater video of the iSaw HD video cam;

Record your 720p (1280 x 720) video for 2.5 hours with the beautiful 1.2megapixel lens. The iSaw Wearable HD Sports Cam records in H.264 video compression, which compresses the video to almost 1/2 of a MPEG-4. You can record manually, on a timer, or multiple recordings.

The iSaw Wearable HD Sports Cam also takes 720p photos, and can take multiple shots in 5, 10, 30, and 100 in a row, making a really cool photo montage effect. And the iSaw is only 2.36 x 1.65 x 1.18 inches (60 x 42 x 30 mm), so you can hide it anyone, and you can even take it out of the IP68 waterproof case and use it for ultra clear video at your next company picnic, family get-together, Christmas, or party. Anywhere you want to record your experience, now you have an ultra small hd camcorder that records awesome video.

Soon Only Law Enforcement Can Buy Spy Cameras

    Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Since US Customs started seizing shipments of our most popular spy cameras, specifically the Business Portable Recorder Video Spy Pen, and the Upgraded Spy Pen Digital Video Recorder that record video and audio, we pretty much stopped ordering anything from China after they took a 3rd shipment, since we plan on staying in business for quite a while & we can’t if we keep having such losses.

Seems that 12-16 states have problems with you recording audio without both parties consent, and they are using the old wired tap and audio bug laws to toss this subject into and harass people like us, and the guy who filmed a whacked out cop with his gun drawn, and they tried to use the wiretap laws against him, and the case was dismissed.

Is this America? Where cops are allowed to violate your Fourth Amendment rights – not to mention your First Amendment right to film them – on the approval of some secretive judge? Well maybe not all judges agree. “The judge who released me looked at the paperwork and said she didn’t see where I violated the wiretapping law.” Ah yes, the wiretapping charge. That old standby that cops use when you happen to videotape them in public while they are on duty when they have absolutely no expectation of privacy. Sure, the First Amendment supposedly allows us to photograph police in public. Numerous court rulings have determined that. But now cops have turned to irrelevant wire-tapping charges to crack down against those who video them in public. Those laws are designed to protect people whose voices are recorded in telephone calls. You know, when you actually have an expectation of privacy. Fortunately, most judges end up throwing these charges out of court when the cops don’t have an expectation of privacy.

So that means that 34-38 states do allow only one party to know audio is being recorded, yet that does not matter. And this gives me hope we might be able to fight this.

Either way, if they want to take the shipments, who am I to stop them, even if they want to stretch the law of surreptitious interception to include direct audio recording. Now surreptitious means to snatch secretly, or acting in a stealthy way.

Check, they are hidden cameras. It’s the interception part that I have a problem. Ask any knuckle dragging Neanderthal what an interception is, and he will say when a properly thrown football is caught by the opposing team member. It’s intercepted. It’s grabbed out of thin air.

Just like an AM/FM audio bug, it intercepts the audio from a conversation and broadcasts it over the radio. Remember the movie with Gregory Peck called Boys From Brazil? In one scene, they have an early radio bug planted in the room, and some little Mexican kid is playing with a radio in another location, flipping the channels, and comes across the conversation with the Germans who were plotting something nasty.

Or a phone tap, it’s intercepting the conversation. Though to say a hidden camera that also records audio is intercepting the conversation is really stretching it. What about digital audio recorders? They record audio and are available in every electronics store on earth.

What about Flip cameras? They record video with audio and they are pretty small. They sell millions of them, why isn’t the government going after them? What about any camcorder or even digital camera, they all record movies with audio. What about pretty much any smart phone? They record or can run an app to record video with audio. My old iPhone has such an app, though the new ones do now. What about the new little iPod nano that also has a video camera with audio? That’s a hidden camera in side an iPod, and apple is selling trillions of them.

US Customs, why are you not going after the big suppliers of these cameras with wiretap laws???

Though they got a lot more guns then me, so I have to waive the white flag, and pick up the pen, which is mightier than the sword, though not very often.

However, we found a way to work around it. While we can still get the old ones here in the USA, for now, at a higher price tag, we worked it out to only offer them to only Law Enforcement Agency, or US, State, County, or City government, Police, Sheriff, etc. We will take the order and ship direct to you from our Chinese supplier. This has worked so far, as we just filled a 50 pen order to a Sheriffs Department here in the USA, and it sailed right through Customs.

These are out gold trimmed pens, which I have not seen anywhere else. You can get the chrome trim ones that have been around for a few year, and everyone will know its a spy camera. The gold trimmed ones on the Business Portable Recorder that records in .AVI format, and can record video with audio, photos, or just audio, & the Upgraded Spy Pen, which records video in the more compressed 3GP format, and takes photos that rival a digital camera, are thinner and more covert.

For everyone else, we can try to ship to you, though if US Customs seizes it, we can’t be held responsible.

Something will change real soon on this, as these products are now commodities, due to the Chinese mass producing them and flooding the market. There will have to be some ruling on this by some court, or at least an opinion letter from DHS, or something.

The Button DV Mini Camcorder Is The Worlds Smallest Button Spy Camera

    Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

The Button DV Mini Camcorder is a tiny field surveillance gadget that looks like an innocent button on your shirt, yet records thousands of photos or clear color video for about 2.5 hours!

We have had several requests to find a PI Camstick with a button on the lens, and we did. We found two of them, and this is the first one we tested.

    Button DV Mini Camcorder
    Button DV Mini Camcorder

We charged one up for 3 hours, and put it through its paces. It was real easy to use, as there is only one button, though it did require 3 pushes; 1st push was for 3 seconds to turn on the mini camcorder. Then it goes to solid blue, stand-by mode. If you push it again to start recording, on the first time, goes to yellow, then you need to push again, then it starts blinking blue; recording mode.

Push once to stop, and if you want to record more, push again, and it will start recording. Records nice clear video in a goofy size; 604 x 448 @ 20 fps in the 3gp format. Works fine on a Mac w/ Quicktime, and it should work on all PC’s, including Vista & 7. If Windows media player does not work, use KM Player, my favorite free program to open any spy camera video.

Upload the video to your computer, drag it over to the desktop, and you have it saved. Delete the files on the device, eject properly, and you are good to go. It records one huge video, and saves it when the battery dies.

And the time/date is easily changeable for documenting it, with a built-in file that you adjust & save, and it looks like you can remove it, and we will let you know if that works.

If you need to go covert with a mini spy camera, or you are already covert, check out the Mini Button Digital Camcorder.

The Tiny mAVR Professional Grade Micro Digital Recorder Records For 8 Hours!

    Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

Leave it to those clever Russians to improve the already awesome mAVR Professional Grade Micro Audio and H.264 Video Digital Recorder. Not only did they move the camera from the front side to the top edge, so you can lay it down and not be as noticeable, they eliminated a blinking light that gave it away in covert applications.

A new feature is Noise-Suppressor, destined for adjusting the noise-suppressing system of the built-in video camera. We like this mini DVR for many reasons. One is it’s the only pocket DVR that we know of that also has a built-in video camera, has two built in microphones, and takes up to 32GB SD cards. Though for quicker boot up times, you might want to use a 4GB or 8GB. Also use the a quality SD card for the best results.

And, it’s not much bigger than a matchbox! A FAT version will record up to a whopping 8 hours per charge! The uses for this the mAVR Mini DVR are endless; mount in a model plane or helicopter for a great way to record the trip. Pick up the windshield adapter and let it watch your car to keep punks from keying the paint or damaging your ride. You can hook up a body worn camera for mobile surveillance, or hook up an external camera to record inside or outside video surveillance.

But don’t listen to Wendell, here are comments from one of our customers that rated it 5 Stars!:

    Worth the extra money.

Posted by Mitch on 15th Apr 2009

Hey I wanted to tell you that so far I have been thrilled with the micro DVR that I bought from you guys. Its been flawlessly reliable. No dropped frames or audio. Has a respectable battery life. And it is so small.

Also, batteries and external chargers are not too tough to find. That is important.

It was pretty expensive so I was nervous about it. Plus buying this kind of "spy" gear is such a shot in the dark. Some of my cheap gear is my best gear. Lots of cheap gear was garbage (so actually expensive) and some of the expensive things were garbage too…

anyway, this russian made micro DVR is fantastic I am glad I took a chance on it.

My use is always body worn or in a purse or a backpack for my work. and it will almost always hooked up to a external camera of some sort with external power patched directly to the camera.

I think one thing that makes this russian dvr perform better is the proprietary recording format. Initially I thought it was a pain to have to do the conversion thing, but I have noticed on my other dvr’s that they drop frames when they start making a new AVI file. but this unit does not drop a frame. seems to keep the audio and time sync very stable. Plus that recording switch seems to make sure it keeps recording no matter what happens with the buttons.

I have only used it three times for "real work" so there may yet be undesirable surprises. But so far I am impressed and I think it is worth the extra expense. And the size is great. I certainly have not seen anything smaller out there.

On the minus side, the built in camera is not suitable for low light use, but in brighter light the image is on par with the average cell phone cam.

Also of note, these guys were super fast on the shipping and have been very helpful.

I couldn’t have made up anything better. Thanks Mitch!

The only downside is when used with a body worn camera while moving, the H.264 format, which compresses the video, leaves some pixilation. It’s not that bad, and if the camera is kept still, there is none. We posted videos on the page for the mAVR Professional Grade Micro Audio and H.264 Video Digital Recorder.

Calling All Coppers: Tactical Headset Camera With 6 Hour Recording

    Monday, January 11th, 2010

"Now look here, Copper," in my best Edward G. Robinson voice, "We got something you just might need." I love watching old Cagney, Bogy, and Robinson films. They all referred to Police as Coppers.

I though they were referring to the copper badges that were worn, though after a little digging, I see it goes back to the mid 1800, when cop was a verb use to take or sized. So the people who arrested you, took you, and were called coppers, then shortened to cop. Interesting!

We took our High Resolution Tactical Headset Camera With Microphone, and matched it up with our 6 Hour Pocket DVR With Button Camera Kit, for an awesome body worn video surveillance system that allows 6 solid hours using the extended battery pack.

If you pound the pavement, drive a beat, secure a building, or just want a cool gadget, this is a match made in heaven.

We posted some video clips at different times of day on the camera page, and the headset camera works well in low light.

If you don’t mind having the camera next to your head, The tactical headset camera records clear video, with a great microphone that can pick up conversations over 30 feet away. Hook it up to the 6 hour pocket DVR, and you have a winner, at a cost much less than TASER® is charging for their set-up.

Extend Your Video Surveillance With The 6 Hour Pocket DVR With Button Camera Kit

    Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

We have been looking for a long life pocket DVR with button camera that can record longer than 2 hours and we finally found one. The 6 Hour Pocket DVR With Button Camera Kit comes with an external battery pack that clips on the back and allows you to record covert surveillance video for 6 solid hours!

The 6 Hour Pocket DVR With Button Camera Kit
The 6 Hour Pocket DVR With Button Camera Kit

We have been working with a law enforcement agency in California that needed to film the officers daily routines, and the other kits only go about 2 hours. We tried the Sleek Sunglasses Hidden Camera Video Recorder, and they only got 5 hours of recording, though they were slightly too wide for California law! They can’t wear them on duty if they are wider than a certain width.

"Hog Fat" I screamed, “We have tried everything; what else can we test?” Then we stumbled onto this little gem.

You get a whole kit in a slick little aluminum suit case so you can haul it around or toss the whole kit in the back seat. Just charge up the batteries, both internal DVR and external battery and you are ready to go. The DVR has status lights on the front lower left to tell you when it’s charged & the battery has a light that lets you know when it’s charged.

Then just slide the DVR onto the battery pack and tighten down the round wheel you see above to lock it into the DVR. Turn both on, and using the record button, or RF wireless remote, start recording.

You can also set this up in a room and using a screw head, mount it somewhere. It has a 57 inch cord from the camera to the plug, or you can use your own covert camera, 5 or 12V and the DVR will power them if the have 3 rings.

If you need to record covert video surveillance with a body worn camera, or to set up one somewhere there is no electricity, and you gotta record for a long time, you can’t go wrong with the 6 Hour Pocket DVR With Button Camera Kit.

Can any of you Coppers use one of these???
