The Button DV Mini Camcorder Is The Worlds Smallest Button Spy Camera

    Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

The Button DV Mini Camcorder is a tiny field surveillance gadget that looks like an innocent button on your shirt, yet records thousands of photos or clear color video for about 2.5 hours!

We have had several requests to find a PI Camstick with a button on the lens, and we did. We found two of them, and this is the first one we tested.

    Button DV Mini Camcorder
    Button DV Mini Camcorder

We charged one up for 3 hours, and put it through its paces. It was real easy to use, as there is only one button, though it did require 3 pushes; 1st push was for 3 seconds to turn on the mini camcorder. Then it goes to solid blue, stand-by mode. If you push it again to start recording, on the first time, goes to yellow, then you need to push again, then it starts blinking blue; recording mode.

Push once to stop, and if you want to record more, push again, and it will start recording. Records nice clear video in a goofy size; 604 x 448 @ 20 fps in the 3gp format. Works fine on a Mac w/ Quicktime, and it should work on all PC’s, including Vista & 7. If Windows media player does not work, use KM Player, my favorite free program to open any spy camera video.

Upload the video to your computer, drag it over to the desktop, and you have it saved. Delete the files on the device, eject properly, and you are good to go. It records one huge video, and saves it when the battery dies.

And the time/date is easily changeable for documenting it, with a built-in file that you adjust & save, and it looks like you can remove it, and we will let you know if that works.

If you need to go covert with a mini spy camera, or you are already covert, check out the Mini Button Digital Camcorder.

Portable Solar Chargers Power Your Spy Camera During Field Surveillance

    Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

We found some pretty slick Portable Spy Camera Solar Chargers in 2 different strengths. These green solar chargers have a built-in Lithium-Ion battery that charge up your Spy Camera, with only the sun. However, they won’t work in the shade, indoors unless the sun is hitting it, or on cloudy days.

    http://www.eyespypro.com/product_images/s/lar_charger_001__20545.jpg
Portable Spy Camera Solar Charger 2850mAh

You can choose two different models, depending on your needs. We are charging up both, and will put them through their paces. The Portable Spy Camera Solar Charger 2850mAh is the bigger of the two, and should be more than enough to get the job done. A mAh stands for Milliamp Hour, a technical term for how much power a particular battery will hold. Digital camera batteries with higher mAh values theoretically last longer without requiring a recharge

    Portable Solar Charger 650mAh
    Portable Solar Charger 650mAh

The Portable Solar Charger 650mAh is smaller, with a lower , though we’ll post the results on tests with a PI Camstick, and a DVR Spy Pen.

You have to charge these solar powered gadget chargers the first them, thereafter, you can use either the sun, or electricity to charge the charging battery next time. Check back in a day or 2 for the results.

SD Card Readers Let You View Your Spy Camera Video

    Monday, March 29th, 2010

There is no better way to read the spy camera video files on your computer, than with a SD card reader. We finally started carrying the Maxflash SD Card Reader & the Maxflash Micro SD Card Reader for those of you who want to read SD cards, but don’t have a reader.

    Maxflash SD Card Reader
    Maxflash SD Card Reader

An SD card reader allows you to view the movies many of our DVR Spy Cameras record. Just insert the SD card or Micro SD card in the reader, and plug into the USB port. It will show up as a flash drive, and you can then drag the movies over to your desktop.

And you really want to use the SD card reader, instead of using the USB cable from the Spy Camera because they are usually slower than the reader. The SD card reader will transfer the files faster, then having to go through the spy camera, especially if they are still running USB 1.0.

    Maxflash Micro SD Card Reader
    Maxflash Micro SD Card Reader

However, a the SD card can also double as a flash memory drive, so you can then put any file on your computer, on the SD card, and as long as there is room, you can then eject the SD card reader, and transfer the files to another computer.

For the fastest downloads of your spy camera movies, go with an SD card reader…

Watch The Back 40 With The SmartScouter Motion Activated Cellular Surveillance Camera

    Friday, March 26th, 2010

For those of you who want to watch wildlife that comes onto your property like deer or moose, keep an eye on your herd, or watch your young fawns, foals, and bucks, than the SmartScouter Motion Activated Cellular Surveillance Camera could be for you.

The SmartScouter wild life camera is a motion activated, wild game camera that uses a heat activated, PIR (passive infrared) sensor that will trigger the camera to take photo’s of any animal or human that comes in front of it, day or night.

Semen Spy Semen Detection Kit With UV Light
SmartScouter Motion Activated Cellular Surveillance Camera

While we have a camera already that does this, it records to SD cards that have to be removed or change as they fill up. What makes the Smart Scouter unique is that it sends the photo’s to a server, where you can access them online, instead of having to put your snow shoes on to get your video during the winter.

The SmartScouter nature camera actually uses the Sprint, AT&T or Verizon GSM networks to send the video wirelessly and automatically. The web site is secure, and once you register the camera, if it is ever stolen, it can not be registered to anyone else.

You access the photo’s right online, and you can manage multiple cameras from one control panel. We posted some screen shots on the product page.

What’s really neat is if you get a good shot of a deer, moose, badger, or human weasel stealing something, you can email to 5 different people.

And, you ain’ t gotta put on your parka, snow shoes, or muffler to go get your video. Add the optional solar charger & spare battery, and you never have to visit the camera.

If you have property that is hard to watch, or you need a 2nd set of eyes on the back 40, the SmartScouter Motion Activated Cellular Surveillance Camera will do the job for you.

This little hidden camera does a decent job at night in a lit room. In a dark room, you can still see everything, though it gets pixilated, as all the DVR Spy Cameras we carry.

So if you want an inconspicuous and innocent looking Nanny Cam hidden camera to watch your Nanny, or a Granny Cam to watch your elderly parents or relatives if someone is taking care of them, using the 16GB SD card option, you can record almost 6 hours of straight video, or longer on motion activation.

Two New Vivotek 2 Megapixel Fixed Dome IP Cameras

    Friday, March 26th, 2010

Vivotek just added two new 2 Megapixel Fixed Dome Network IP Cameras, now putting their total Vivotek Megapixel IP Cameras cameras to six.

If you don’t know, a 2 Megapixel IP camera can take stunningly clear surveillance video, that you can zoom in on, and recognize a person, unlike the fuzzy faces you see when you zoom in on a regular CCTV Camera. Unlike a 2 Megapixel digital camera, which is so outdated, its the standard now on mobile phones, 2 Megapixels of video is super high quality, allowing you to zoom right in on a license plate, or face, without it looking pixelated or blurry.

And the great part is these Vivotek cameas are PoE compliant, which means they can not only run the video on normal Cat 5 or ethernet cable, it can also run the power to operate the camea, carry 2-way audio, and control any PTZ function. Can’t do that with a 20th century CCTV camera.

The Vivotek FD8161 2 Megapixel H.264 Day and Night Fixed Dome Network Camera is perfect for indoor applications like theatres, lobbies, schools, or government offices. And 2 Megapixels will give you 6x field of view over a VGA camera, which allows you to install fewer cameras, and cover the same area.

Vivotek FD8161 2 Megapixel H.264 Day and Night Fixed Dome Network Camera
Vivotek FD8161 2 Megapixel H.264 Day and Night Fixed Dome Network Camera

A large lobby can be watched, and you can also have an ePTZ feature, which allows the camera to focus on specific areas, like door entrances or cashiers, and give you the big picture. The video us compressed using H.264 technology, which is 90% smaller than MJPEG, and 50% smaller than MPEG-4. And a smart cropping function allows you to trim certain areas like sky or trees, allowing you to send smaller files over your network, reducing the strain on your bandwidth.

An IR cut filter & IR Illiminators allow the camera to work well during the day, or at night, and most Vivotek caeras are PoE compliant.

The Vivotek FD8361 2 Megapixel H.264 Day and Night Vandal Proof Fixed Dome Camera will give you everthing the FD8161 does, plus it works best in outdoor applications, or indoors where things might get rough. It’s IP66 rated, which means it can survive a major soaking, or dust storm, and keep on ticking.

Vivotek FD8361 2 Megapixel H.264 Day and Night Vandal Proof Fixed Dome Camera
Vivotek FD8361 2 Megapixel H.264 Day and Night Vandal Proof Fixed Dome Camera

A vadalproof camera can withstand a hit by a bat, stick, or rock, and work well at schools, public locations, or watching your back dock or back yard. Both of these Vivotek fixed dome cameras come with free software, and have smart features to alert you if the camera is moved, or covered with something like spray paint or trash bag.

And finally we wrote an article recently entitled; "10 Reasons Why IP Network Cameras Are Superior to CCTV Cameras," and you can read it over @ ezinearticles.com

    Monday, March 15th, 2010

Well we buried this in the last email, and if you did not see it, we are reposting it.

We are now able to set the time date on the Updated PI Camstick!!!

We finally have a firmware update for the Updated PI Camstick that you can run to change the time & date. Joy of joys! Download the file and expand on your PC, or on a Mac if you are using Boot camp or Parallels. Put the SD card in your Updated PI Camstick, and use the USB cable to plug it in to the PC. Run the updater and you will see either question marks, or gibberish.

Choose the button the left. The button on the right will cancel. Then it will do it’s thing and give you a success dialogue box. Hit return or enter, and it will finish. Then go to the lower right tray on the monitor, click the green arrow, and eject the device. Unplug the cable, turn it on, wait a minute, turn it off, then every time you use it, you will be able to adjust the time/date!

And we also dropped the price. We realize you can buy these for a 20 bucks on eBay with free shipping. RIP Hi-Res PI-CamStick – Worlds Smallest Digital Video Recorder

    Friday, March 12th, 2010

Well today we have good news & bad news. First the bad news. The Hi-Res PI-CamStick – World’s Smallest Digital Video Recorder is dead. That’s right, one of the very first spy cameras we started selling over 2 years ago is no more (Start shedding your tears now.).

Talking Mini Clock Radio Hidden Camera DVR
    Hi-Res PI-CamStick – World’s Smallest Digital Video Recorder

While the video was only 320 x 240, it was one of our all time top sellers. It was a HUGE advancement from the 1st generation PI Camstick, which took a whopping 160 x 120 video. It was postage size, but it was so cool.

Then it was bumped up to 640 x 480 and everyone was in heaven, and we sold hundreds. However, the ones that take the micro SD cards were never was able to keep the time/date working, until now!

Now the good news; You can FINALLY set the time date on the Updated PI Camstick!!!

We finally have a firmware update for the Updated PI Camstick that you can run to change the time & date. Joy of joys! Download the file and expand on your PC, or on a Mac if you are using Bootcamp or Parallels. Put the SD card in your Updated PI Camstick, and use the USB cable to plug it in to the PC. Then go to the lower right tray on the monitor, click the green arrow, and eject the device. Unplug the cable, turn it on, wait a minute, turn it off, then every time you use it, you will be able to adjust the time/date!

And we also dropped the price. We realize you can buy these for a buck on eBay with free shipping. Normally they are stolen from the factories, and a couple bucks is a lot for a broke China man. I mean the postage cost more than the product, and if you look at their other items, you will see USB fans, Hello Kitty key chains, and other fluff. They don’t do this for a living. They sell whatever crap they can scrounge. Tech support? You gotta be kidding!

This business is my life; we eat, sleep, and drool over all the new products. Don’t expect to get any support from them. And they won’t make videos showing how they work, won’t be available to help you when you need it, won’t guarantee it for one year from defects, or give you lifetime toll free technical support. I would have to go back to the woods because we could not stay in business, so we are trying to find the happy medium.

So we listened, we dropped prices, and we will keep the news and tips coming.

Whatever your needs, be it a PI, gadget head, Law enforcement, need to record interviews or meetings, or just wanna play James Bond for the day, the Updated PI CamStick Personal Interview Recorder is the size of your pinky, and with the pocket clip, you always have a camcorder in your pocket…
